MAY, 2017

Neem is a tropical evergreen tree – originally from India & Burma – that has a revered place in Ayurvedic medicine. In the last century, Neem has been introduced to many more tropical and sub-tropical countries all over the world because its powerful healing properties and diverse benefits became more known. Overall, more than 2,000 clinical studies have been conducted so far to prove Neem’s versatility and medicinal properties.
Scientific research from many Universities confirm its ability to solve many health problems, internally and externally, while enhancing overall well-being. [For public medical studies click here , or here for a well-studied & resourceful Indian organization, all about Neem.] The records all show that the entire tree has medicinal values, in other words all parts can be used, from leaves, seeds, flowers, twigs, to roots and barks. Of course, high quality and purity are of greatest importance; otherwise the impact of taking Neem will be minor. Take a look at ten (10) of the impressive therapeutic qualities of NEEM when taken internally:

1. Cholesterol lowering

Recently, clinical studies gained much attention after showing that Neem removes cholesterol from the liver and inhibits its assimilation. Since nobody wants excess or bad cholesterol to create plaque that will stick on the arteries walls, this effect gives the cardiovascular system a great protection. One study showed that Neem lowered high cholesterol levels when Neem leaf extract, tincture or capsules were taken for a month.

2. Anti-inflammatory: able to reduce inflammation & induce death of cancer cells

Neem is known to calm inflammation in skin conditions, joint pains and muscle aches. The anti-inflammatory activity is comparable to that of aspirin (by inhibiting prostaglandins). In serious cases like for example leukemia cancer, studies show that it not only reduces inflammation, but clearly killed cancer cells & stopped them from rapidly reproducing. Also, Neem is recommended for anticancer therapies since it significantly improves efficiency of anti-cancer drugs or chemotherapy.

3. Anti-tumor: able to reduce the risk of tumor growth

Studies show that components of Neem (note that overall a total of 140 active components in Neem have been isolated!) can modulate the immune environment of tumors. In other words, it activates natural killer cells that in turn inhibit & reduce tumor growth. It even keeps the tumor from recurring.

4. Immune-stimulant: able to boost the immune system

Interestingly, Neem leaves & oil has been found to be a potent stimulant for the immune system (showing immuno-modulatory activity on Th-1 lymphocytes). In other words, lymphocytes defend the body against all sorts of invaders, especially cancers & tumors.

5. Analgesic: able to relieve pain

Both Neem leaves and Neem bark have been found to relieve mild to moderate pain. Since pharmaceutical pain killers have strong side effects, Neem coupled with curcumin are a great natural remedy.

6. Anti-gastric: able to prevent or destroy ulcers

Studies show that Neem leaves have a potent activity of destroying ulcers, especially peptic & duodenal ulcers. Low doses of 20 to 40mg/kg bring the most relief and significantly reduce acidity and gastric fluids as well.

7. Anti-bacterial & anti-fungal: able to destroy or inhibit the growth of bad bacteria or fungi

Neem Leaves’ antibacterial & anti-fungal activity comes from the active ingredients of Quercetin & β-sitosterol which are proven to destroy staphylococcus aureus, a common source of food poisoning, urinary infections, and salmonella. A 0.2% concentration of Neem had the same anti-bacterial effect as penicillin G.! Please note that Neem does not kill beneficial intestinal flora, nor produce any negative side effect!

8. Anti-arthritic: effective in treatment of arthritis

When understanding the anti-inflammatory effects of Neem and its immune-regulating mechanism it is clear that Neem is also effective for rheumatic disorders and arthritis.

9. Lowering blood sugar: effective in treating Diabetes I & II

Because Neem has been proven to reduce insulin requirements by up to 50 percent, without altering blood glucose levels, some countries, like India, have approved it to help treat Diabetes I and II. Extracts and leaves are shown to lower & keep blood sugar steady at lower levels within 3-5 months, or reduce insulin requirements by between 30 to 50%.

10. Anti-helminthic: capable of expelling or destroying parasites

Neem leaves, twigs and oil are all found capable of expelling intestinal worms or parasites. Especially for malaria, Neem extracts have proven to be very potent as it lowers the fever, stimulates the immune system and increases one’s appetite which in turn enables a stronger body to fight the parasite & recover quicker.

With these impressive internal applications of Neem, is it any wonder that this potent herb, extract or oil is highly esteemed. If you’d like to know what certified organic product we are using, click here.
