The Importance of Cleansing Lymph, Liver, Kidneys, Lungs, and Skin
If only we would stay more informed about environmental air pollution & its impact on lungs, heart, brain and onset of diabetes II, the link between living close to a highway & autism (car exhaust fumes), the cosmetic/skin care products with its carcinogens & synthetic estrogens, …….. and so on.
Unregulated Pollution & Toxins still on the rise!
Human biomonitoring studies show that many environmental contaminants, including known and potential carcinogens, are finding their way into people’s bodies. Amazingly, such chemicals & toxins have increased tremendously in the past decades and/or are mostly unregulated! An alarming fact: the current list of such harmful substances amounts to more than 70,000 toxins in our environment. For example, in cosmetics alone a study done in 2015 found that the average woman exposes herself to nearly 170 toxins [click here for the article] And then women wonder why their health or hormonal system get messed up, especially early in their lives.
Once you start checking the facts, you begin to realize how wide-ranging the exposure to contaminants are! It’s about every area of our lives.
Serious exposure to chemicals & contaminants
- skin care products, cosmetics, make-up, hair & especially dye products, finger nail polish, perfumes, all unnatural fragrances, dental fillings & care products, baby & children’s toys.
- Food packaging & aluminum foil, plastic containers, bottled water & drinks, most pots and pans, household cleaning supplies, treated furniture, mattresses, carpets, floors, all indoor materials of cars, lead paint,…..
- Cigarette smoke (including 2nd hand smoking!), automobile or truck exhaust fumes, asbestos from building materials, emissions from office printers, exposure to pest control products,…..
- Especially in the farming industry through the food we eat: fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides like glyphosate (meanwhile found in most non-organic foods!), plus in processed & fast foods through all kinds of preservatives & chemicals, …..

Liver – The Great Detoxifier
Function:
Filters out most toxins; regulates blood sugar as it stores sugar & releases it when necessary; regulates cholesterol & breaks down fats; supports digestive system.
Major toxic culprits:
Painkillers like Paracetamol, Tylenol, or Ibuprofen; plus all kinds of drug residues; pesticides; glyphosates (i.e. most non-organic foods); chlorine; fluoride; preservatives; most chemicals, metals & toxins! Note these common ‘natural’ culprits too: Overeating, too much Protein in Diet, too much Fried Foods & unhealthy Fats, Alcohol (inflammation).

Function:
To make urine from waste products and filtering the blood; kidneys maintain homeostasis, a “state of proper balance” in the body by regulating blood pressure, various minerals, water & hormones in the bloodstream, plus adjust ‘acid/alkaline’ balance.
Major toxic culprits:
Mercury from dental amalgam fillings, or high levels in bigger fish, or areas with extensive coal burning;
Cadmium from tobacco smoke, fertilizers, glyphosate, meaning most non-organic foods(!) & cadmium found in inexpensive childrens’ jewelry & toys;
Toxins from the blood, like medications, chemicals from beauty & skin care products, cleaning products, etc.

Mercury is a potent neurotoxin & is linked to Alzheimer (formation of neurofibrillar tangles) & autism in children; has toxic effects on the nervous, digestive and immune system!

Gallbladder – Storage of Bile
Function:
Storage of concentrated bile, originally produced by the liver, to emulsify & properly break down fats, also essential to absorb the fat-soluble vitamins A, E, D, and K, plus essential fatty acids.
Major toxic culprits:
Hydrogenated Fats & Oils, like all vegetable oils, corn oil, soybean oil, canola oil;
Preservatives or artificial sweeteners;
Also excess alcohol, coffee and salt; they can cause gallbladder stones.
Illnesses linked:
Digestive problems, trouble to digest fats, gallbladder stones; over long time leads to vitamin deficiencies of A, E, D and K and its related health issues.
Lymphatic System – our Defense
Function:
Return tissue fluid to the blood and protect the body against impurities & pathogens; vital to repair tissue, and control inflammation in the organs. Since the lymph system has no heart to move it through the body, exercise, hydration and oxygen are crucial for its health!
Major toxic culprits:
Medications, chemicals from beauty & skin care products, cleaning products, food additives, soft drinks, and excess coffee (for completeness sake: stress & high acidity).
Illnesses linked:
Swollen lymph nods, swollen joints; pains & aches in the body; low immune function, easily getting sick; linked with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Skin – the largest Organ
Function:
Protects our body from damage, infections, and drying out; it regulates body temperature & can help to get rid of toxins in the body.
Major toxic culprits:
Dioxin from herbicides used in agricultural farming (i.e. all non-organic foods);
Triclosan from anti-bacterial soaps, deodorants, toothpaste, detergents, etc;
Best practice is to basically avoid all chemicals in skin care products, soaps, cosmetics, etc. They are designed to be driven through the skin & land in the blood where they start harming vital tissues, the blood & the organs!

Lungs – Oxygen & the Flow of Life
Function:
Deliver oxygen to the blood and remove carbon dioxide from it.
Major toxic culprits:
Household toxins in detergents, cleaners, and ‘air fresheners’; treated carpets, furniture, mattresses, and so on; cosmetics and perfumes; active & passive smoking;
Also radiation therapy can lead to pulmonary toxicity, so does prolonged exposure to asbestos; mold; smoking; and air pollution of heavy traffic!

Asthma, allergies, ‘short breath’, coughing (chronic), high mucus, bronchitis, pneumonia.
Brain – Seat of mental processes
Function:
Controls the body, stores information, allows you to think & learn, and controls vital daily functions, like heart rate or breathing, etc. By receiving impulses from nerves, it responds to pain and other stimulation. The brain is the only part of the body that has no lymph for cleansing.
Major toxic culprits:
All metals, especially Lead, Aluminum, and Iron from pots and pans;
MSG – the food additive to enhance flavor is linked to brain damage;
Formaldehyde – found in wrinkle-free clothes, furniture or low-cost treated wood, or cosmetics;
Glyphosate – mostly used to grow non-organic foods – a known carcinogen that suffocates human cells (to find out more read here);
More than two CT scans – exposure to radiation;
Mercury from dental amalgam/implants (mercury in dental amalgam is on its way to get banned in Europe [since year 2011], or high mercury levels in bigger fish [click here for more info].
Aluminum (any exposure is toxic for us!) found in vaccines, deodorants, sunscreens, lipstick, foil, take-away boxes, cans, cookware, processed cheese, all food made with aluminized baking powder, i.e. self-rising flour, like salted snacks, cookies, waffles, pastries, muffins, tortillas, pizza crust, etc.
Reduced amounts of sleep (less than 6 hours) up to insomnia are detrimental for our brain & overall health!
Illnesses linked:
Mercury can cause many nerve symptoms: from insomnia, inability to concentrate, nerve tremor, to headaches, fatigue, to allergic dermatitis, plus gastrointestinal symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and colitis.
Aluminum is neurotoxic and can lead to serious neurological damage & disorders (like ADHD, Autism, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Dementia….)
This is a long list of essential knowledge how to best zero in on clearing pathways in our body, understanding the risks of high toxins exposure! For example, certain professions like hair dresser, pest control, cleaning personnel, workers in petrochemical plants, etc. should detox on a daily basis to keep the risks of toxic exposure as low as possible! Which is best? Seasonal, monthly or daily Cleansing?
Somehow most cultures have known, in order to stay healthy we need to detoxify and cleanse our body at least once a year. In many countries with four Seasons the favorite times are spring and autumn to support Nature’s natural rhythm of growth and retraction. But around the world, people always knew Rituals & Ceremonies to cleanse the body & mind. It just seems that during the last decades we have lost these traditions a bit. While in today’s world with its high exposure to chemicals & toxins, we would really need it! Consequently, you might come to the same conclusion as we do: precaution is better than getting sick – we recommend to cleanse on a daily or monthly basis!
From experience my personal recommendation is to first do an overall detox for a period of time (since most organs cannot be detoxed in 3-4 days!!), and then change to a good maintenance dose according to lifestyle, profession, and individual exposure to toxins.
