Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is the second most popular essential oil in the United States. It is cooling to the skin and gives off a fresh, grassy aroma. This U.S.-sourced essential oil comes from the prominent Yakima valley in Washington state. Peppermint is believed to be native to the Mediterranean region, although the actual origin is uncertain. The crossing of its two parent species — mentha and pepita — occurred in the wild.

Because the primary constituent of peppermint essential oil is menthol, it produces an immediate physical and pronounced sensation of coolness when inhaled or applied to the skin.
Peppermint blends well with lavender, rosemary, lemon eucalyptus, tea tree, lemon and sweet orange essential oils.
In addition to body and massage oils, peppermint essential oil is often used in air fresheners like air mists and diffusions. It’s refreshing, energizing effects make it ideal for travelers on long trips.

Quick Tip:
Massage 2 drops with 1 teaspoon Aura Cacia Jojoba Oil into temples.
Blend 24 drops with 2 fl oz unscented liquid soap for an invigorating body wash.

Cooling Travel Mist:
24 drops peppermint, 2 fl oz of water. Combine in a mist bottle, shake well, then spritz skin and avoid eyes.

Peppermint Desktop Diffusion:
Ingredients:
- 24 drops Aura Cacia Peppermint Essential Oil
- 24 drops Aura Cacia Grapefruit Essential Oil
- ½ cup coarse salt
Directions:
In a jar, combine salt and essential oils. Leave open on desktop for a refreshing, energizing diffusion.
